Dyas Depot
The tracks were pulled up in the 1920s, and most of the Dyas community is gone, but the Macon & Birmingham Railroad depot has survived. Standing vacant and nearly hidden by the thick growth alongside Echeconnee Creek, it may not last many more years. This photo, taken from the Hwy. 42 bridge, shows the building in November 2008. Dyas is (was) in southwestern Monroe County, about 20 miles west of Macon.
