Monroe Depot

Monroe's railroad depot before rehabilitation

The former Georgia Railroad depot at Monroe was built sometime around 1885. These photos show the building before and after a recent rehabilitation.

Nearby is the northern terminus of the shortline Great Walton Railroad.

Monroe (pop. 11,764) is the county seat of Walton County. It is located about 35 miles east of Atlanta.
