Porterdale Depot

Porterdale depot in a badly deteriorated state

The 1898 Central of Georgia depot at Porterdale was well on its way to becoming a pile of old lumber before the city rehabilitated it in 2007. It is now used for community events. More information on the building and additional photos are available on the Georgia DNR Historic Preservation Division website and on Flickr.

The Central's line from here to Covington was built in 1899 and abandoned in 1988.

Porterdale (pop. 1,382) is in Newton County about 40 miles east of Atlanta.
