Augusta & Savannah Railroad
Established February 16, 1856 as successor to the Augusta and Waynesboro Railroad, this 53-mile line connected Augusta and Millen. It was long controlled by the Central of Georgia Railroad which finally acquired and absorbed it in 1948. Civil War period map (57K) 1873 map (81K)
