The Great Locomotive Chase

Here's where it ended, a couple of miles north of Ringgold. The monument marks the spot where Andrews Raiders abandoned the "General" after a chase across northern Georgia on April 12, 1862. A brief summary of the events of the day, along with the names and affiliations of the 22 raiders, are inscribed on the tablet.
One wonders what Andrews and his men would have thought about this locomotive.
