Inman Yard Tunnel

Tunnel under Inman Yard, Atlanta

CSX tunnel under Norfolk Southern's Inman Yard in Atlanta. Inman Yard was built by Southern Railway in the early 1900s, around the same time that the Louisville & Nashville, in conjunction with the Atlanta, Knoxville & Northern, was constructing a belt line on the western side of the city. This tunnel is on a section of that old belt line.

L&N and AK&N eventually became part of CSX, and Southern Railway became part of Norfolk Southern. For more information on the belt line, see this page.
