Winder's Steam Locomotive



Gainesville Midland RR locomotive at Winder

Under a shed adjacent to the red brick depot in downtown Winder is Gainesville Midland No. 208, a Baldwin 2-10-0 built in 1930. This locomotive also served as Seaboard Air Line No. 530. Seaboard donated it to Winder and Barrow County in 1959.


Winder, the county seat of Barrow County, is in northeast Georgia about 20 miles west of Athens.
