Summerville Depot
Summerville's 1918 Central of Georgia depot is now the home of the Chattoooga County Historical Society as well as the terminus of a popular excursion train operated by the Tennessee Valley Railroad. Across the street from the depot, a turntable allows locomotives to easily reverse their direction. In 2006, Georgia DOT provided $100,000 in Transportation Enhancement funds to rehabilitate the building. (Photos below by Carmine Fischetti).
Summerville (pop. 4,481) is the county seat of Chattooga County in northwest Georgia. It is about 24 miles north of Rome and 18 miles south of LaFayette.
