Wrens Depots
Wrens' former Savannah & Atlanta Railway depot stood by the tracks about a mile south of downtown. (Above and below). Since these photos were taken in 2004, the building has been replaced by a newer structure on the same site.
This was the depot of the Georgia & Florida (earlier the Augusta Southern); it stands on Broad Street in downtown Wrens. As can be seen, it has been thoroughly modernized. The building now serves as Wrens' community house.
This 1920 topographic map indicates the relative locations of the two stations, with the Georgia & Florida/Augusta Southern depot in town and the Savannah & Atlanta at Wrens Station to the southwest. (From Stapleton 15-minute quadrangle, U.S. Geological Survey, 1920.)
Wrens is a town of 2,152 in northern Jefferson County, about 30 miles southwest of Augusta.
