Georgia Coast Rail-Trail

Rail-trail bridge at White Oak Creek.

The middle section of the former Seaboard Air Line Railway between Savannah and Florida may someday become a 68-mile rail-trail. A 3.5-mile section at White Oak in Camden County and a short section to the south in Woodbine have been completed.

At Woodbine the trail leads to the former railroad bridge over the Satilla River.

The north end of the bridge was removed after the line was abandoned by CSX in the 1980s. The remaining section is now a fishing pier.

The now-quiet corridor once reverberated with the roar of famous trains such as the Orange Blossom Special.
