The 18-mile Savannah & Tybee Railroad, completed in 1887, entered receivership in November 1888 and was sold in December 1889. It was reorganized as the Savannah, Tybee & Atlantic Railway in March 1890. A few months later it was acquired by the Central of Georgia and renamed the Savannah & Atlantic Railroad.
The line was abandoned and the rails taken up in 1933.
