In 1902, the South Georgia Railroad leased the West Coast Railway of Florida (Greenville-to-Perry, Florida) and began operating the two railroads as one. Although reorganized that year as the South Georgia Railway, the company used the name South Georgia & West Coast on its equipment for years afterward.
