Thomaston & Barnesville Railroad

| The 16-mile line from Thomaston to Barnesville was constructed
by the Thomaston & Barnesville Railroad Company, chartered in
1839. After much delay, the line opened in October 1857. The company was
reorganized as the Upson County Railroad in 1860. |
